Why we prefer Ceramic Implants (Patient compares a ceramic implant with us with a previously placed titanium implant).
One of our patients had a titanium implant placed two years ago in another dental practice and recently had a ceramic implant placed with with us. In this video, she contrasts the two. She had a positive experience with a ceramic implant at Family Holistic Dentistry in Boulder, Colorado. Our processing using laser, ozone, and PFR resulted in better healing and pain avoidance, a more natural progression, and a better recovery compared to the traditional, titanium implant. Despite the ceramic implant being recently placed, the patient is experiencing fewer issues such as pressure, temperature sensitivity, and gum irritation compared to the titanium implant.
We only place CeraRoot ceramic implants in our practice, and we love the healing and functionality. Ceramic implants have come a long way since their introduction in the 1980s. Initially developed as an alternative to metal implants, early ceramic versions faced challenges with strength and durability. However, advancements in materials science, particularly the development of zirconia-based ceramics, have significantly improved their performance. Modern zirconia implants are highly durable, with superior fracture resistance compared to earlier models. Innovations in design and manufacturing techniques have enhanced their precision and long-term stability, while studies have shown excellent osseointegration, making them comparable to traditional titanium implants. Today, zirconia ceramic implants are a trusted option for those seeking a biocompatible, metal-free solution with exceptional aesthetic and functional results.
Ceramic implants offer several advantages over titanium implants, particularly for patients seeking a more holistic or biocompatible option. Unlike titanium, zirconia is metal-free, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or sensitivities. Its non-conductive properties also minimize inflammation and prevent interference with the body’s natural energy flow. Additionally, zirconia has a natural white color, making it more aesthetically pleasing, especially for front teeth restorations. It is also highly resistant to corrosion and plaque buildup, contributing to better gum health and long-term durability. In the video on the left the patient shares her experience with a ceramic implant at our practice. She starts talking about the Essix retainer. Essix retainers are necessary for implants to be free of micro movements. The Essix retainer helps protect the surgical site and maintain the space, while also ensuring that the soft tissue and surrounding bone heal properly. Our patient talks about the healing and comfort of the dental implant process in our office, as well as sharing insights on their post-implant lifestyle, including the ability to eat without restrictions and minimal issues with food trapping. She also compares the difference between traditional titanium implants and CeraRoot ceramic implants, praising the natural feel of CeraRoot.
